Dave Valentin, who has recorded over 15 albums for GRP, combines together the influence of pop, R&B, and Brazilian music with Latin jazz to create a slick and accessible form of crossover jazz. Valentin's teacher, Hubert Laws, suggested that he not double on saxophone because of his attractive sound on the flute. Discovered by Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen, Valentin was the first artist signed to GRP and he has been a popular attraction ever since. Since the mid-2000's, Valentin has been signed to Highnote Records releasing World On A String in 2005 and Come Fly With Me in 2006.

Nestor Torres is a jazz flautist who was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 1957. He took flute lessons at age 12 and began formal studies at the Escuela Libre de Música, eventually attending Puerto Rico’s Inter-American University. At 18, he moved to New York with his family. Torres went on to study both jazz and classical music at the Mannes College of Music in New York and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, among other places. He moved to Miami in 1981, and signed with PolyGram, where he released Morning Ride in 1989. His major label debut climbed quickly to the top of the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts and soon brought him widespread acclaim. Tragedy struck a year later when an accident in a celebrity boat race left him with eighteen fractured ribs, two broken clavicles and a collapsed lung. His record company dropped him, he and his wife divorced, and his home was nearly repossessed. In 2007, Nestor played at the World Music Concert during One World Week 2007, in front of a full house, at the University of Warwick. On March 21, 2009 he played in Herbst Theatre in San Francisco in performance "Tango Meets Jazz" with Pablo Ziegler. On September 9, 2009 he played at the Greek Theatre (Los Angeles) with the Dave Matthews Band. He guested on the song "Lying In The Hands Of God."

Juan Pablo Torres - TROMBONIST, COMPOSER, ARRANGER. (1946-2005) Trombonist, composer and arranger Juan Pablo Torres debuted with Armando Romeu's Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna in 1967, working alongside future Irakere greats Chucho Valdés, Paquito D'Rivera and Arturo Sandoval before founding his own jazz ensemble, Algo Nuevo. As a producer he guided such legendary sessions as Estrellas de Areito (1979). Torres also has collaborated with such legends as Cachao, Chico O'Farrill, Eddie Palmieri, Patato, Bebo Valdés, Astor Piazzolla, and fellow trombonists Robin Eubanks and Steve Turre. Born in Puerto Padre, Cuba in 1946, Juan Pablo Torres is part of a triumvirate of now legendary Cuban expatriates that also includes Paquito D'Rivera and Arturo Sandoval. In some ways, they are comparable to the trio of bebop pioneers in the U.S.A.: Charlie Parker/Dizzy Gillespie/J.J. Johnson. Like Johnson, Torres is also a gifted composer/arranger and a sought-after producer. And also like Johnson, unfortunately, he never received the acclaim accorded to his colleagues in treble clef.
